I’m a Slacker

I did nothing last night, other than finish a book. Remind me to tell you about the fact that I adore Nora Roberts, but after a while all of her books have the same plot devices and characters, just in different settings.* I should feel bad about that, since my Nano deadline is looming, my house looks like a toy store and children’s activity center puked all over it, and I have some freelance stuff

I Get to Wear Pretty Shoes Again

Day One at the Marietta gig seems to be going well, though driving to work versus using MARTA took a little bit of getting used to this morning. I forgot exactly how bad 85 can get going south, though I’m only on it for two miles to get to 75 North. But, I also don’t have a mile walk from the train station to campus, which rocks because I don’t have to wear ‘sensible’ shoes

Cleaning Day

My mother’s on her way back to St. Marys, my child is playing dress-up, BabyDaddy’s playing some first-person shooter game, and I’m trying to do laundry in between chapters on my Nano novel. Things are getting back to normal around here. Well, as normal as they can get, that is.

Shopping – The Day After

So my mother and I went to IKEA today… and I’m still trying to figure out why. Actually, it wasn’t that bad, and they seemed to have done a pretty good job at re-stocking after yesterday’s insanity, though the poor lady who was ringing us up had to type in all the UPC codes by hand, because her scanner died yesterday, along with the pad for all the credit cards. Anyway, I’m going to grab

Black Friday Greetings

Today is one of the days that I’ve purposely scheduled to sequester myself away from everyone and everything to work on my Nano novel, though my ‘sequestering’ is more like opening up my Winamp to shuffle through my mp3s, headphones on, and sitting on the couch in the living room. My mother’s still in town, so she’s reading while Elizabeth spins like a top all around the house, causing far too much damage similar to

Happy Turkey Day

I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving in the US, and those everywhere else, a Happy Thursday. Yeah, it’s a weak post for NaBloPoMo, but I’m about to head over to my grandmother’s to eat way too much food and nap, if Elizabeth will allow me to.

If Wishes Were Horses…

When we were drinking chatting on Saturday night, I mentioned that I was disillusioned with Atlanta. He tended to agree, of course he’s got like 12 years on me for living here. I was thinking again about our conversation today when I was replying to an email from a different friend, and I think I’ve got a good list going about where I want to live. Must be near an ocean. Must not be completely

I Can’t Feel My Nose

It’s cold. Really, terribly fucking cold. Why did I want to move up to Atlanta again? They have, like, real seasons here, and I’m not sure I’m up to the idea that it could possibly snow where I live. I mean, the last time it snowed in St. Marys was in 1989, and it hadn’t snowed for 60 years prior to that. At that point, I’d just moved from Connecticut, so it wasn’t a big

Monday Blahs

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again… I. Hate. Meetings. At least, this was my last one for a while, since my last day of working at the HBCU is Wednesday. And it kind-of scared me that one of the ladies that I’ve been working closely with on a project didn’t even know that they weren’t renewing me again. But the meeting today clocked in at just under 3 and a half hours.

In Which I Show my New Age-y Roots

My head isn’t very fond of me this morning. One of my friends from college, Keith came over for dinner last night, and I drank a little too much. Now, I have a beer with dinner, but we ended up staying up which increased my drinking rate, watching Friday’s Doctor Who episode, and then turned around and watched Young Guns, which I had forgotten has some really cheesy dialogue. I loved that movie when I
